This Northern European equine, originating in Latvia in the 20th Century, is used for driving and riding. A heavy Warmblood, the Latvian may be found in a Harness Horse or Riding Horse variety of the breed, which contains elements of Hanoverian, Holstein, and Oldenburg bloodlines.
