Likely
originating in the United Kingdom, Exmoor Ponies are still found there in feral
state. Others are used for Agility, Driving, Endurance Riding, and horse
showing. Historically, Exmoors also worked as pit ponies in coal mining.
The stocky, sturdy ponies bear significant resemblance to prehistoric horses. In fact, plenty believe the Exmoor Pony breed (now considered endangered or threatened) existed many thousands of years ago.
