Tuesday

X is for . . . eXtravagant

“X is for . . . eXtravagant”

And Style to Boot --

A Pocket of Bills for Footwear Frills

Those cowboy boots are smokin’ hot,

The flashiest attire she’s got.

Who knew red shoes

Could beat the blues

And attitude could be store-bought?

(You see . . . sometimes the squeaky heel . . . well, you know.)

El Santo (The Saint) –

Saddled with Responsibility

The guardian I trust the most,

Beatified from coast to coast,

May poke his nose in everything,

While babysitting in the ring.

He has been known to tell a tale,

To shoot the breeze and bring the mail.

If children wander out of bounds,

He’ll holler his unearthly sounds.

To dictate discipline, he’ll call.

To balance battles, save a fall,

This tattletale is right on course,

Because he is a saintly horse.

Detangling with Delight –

Rhyming Lots on Losing Knots

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine

and puts them into practice is like a wise man

who built his house on the rock.”

Matthew 7:24

A feral foal will stand at rest –

Allowing grooming, no protest.

Though burrs be tangled in his mane,

His energies he may contain.

He’ll hover there for human care,

With equine heart a-beating fair.

No stranger may approach him thus,

But those who bend to earn his trust.

Such high horizons beckon all,

Where courage may send fear a-fall.

These interactions school the soul,

Eliminating crowd’s control.

We need to bridle burning pasts

To build a legacy that lasts.

For saddled with concerns untamed

We merely march in meter, maimed.

The wisest man knows how to live;

To temper stress, one must forgive.

May sound a bit naïve, but true,

That crossing boundaries lifts view.

Fairly Fall –

A Trip on the Trail

Leaving home for just a while,

And heading for the trail in style -

With hands on reins

Held close to manes,

We carve our joys in single file.

No scary stories taunt us here,

A-galloping with those held dear.

With softest cues

We banish blues

In golden autumn’s atmosphere.
