Guts and Glory - Paddock Boots Gone Goth?

Guts and Glory - Paddock Boots Gone Goth?

Have you seen the trendy new paddock boots from Mountain Horse? These Wicked Rider boots look like a cross between Converse Chuck Taylor Hi-Tops and equestrian footwear.

Billed as "a new kind of equestrian footwear, where riding meets street fashion and function prevails," the Wicked Rider paddock boots retail for about $80.

(Actually, that price puts these stylized riding boots in a similar range to fashion sneakers too.)

Would you wear canvas and nylon paddock boots that look like street sneakers to ride?

How would these colorful paddock boots go over at your stables?

Leave a comment with your opinion. C'mon, tell us what you really think.

Maybe you have seen these two perform at a state fair or horse exposition - or even on television.

Just for fun, who hasn't tried a bit of trick training with your own horse?

Here are Tommie Turvey and his American Paint Horse Poker Joe. (Poker Joe has been immortalized as a Breyer horse - see at right.)

Does Persistence Pay Off?

Does Persistence Pay Off?

Just saw the Budweiser Clydesdales - at least, one of their teams - in the infield at the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville.

We've seen these fabulous horses several times each year, from county fairs to state fairs and more.  I always admire the impeccability of their grooming and the way their handlers seem to care genuinely about these marvelous mounts.

Maybe it's my career in advertising ... but I never get tired of seeing these amazing and beautiful equines.

Enjoy:
