National Rescue Ride – Sunday, October 19, 2008

On Sunday, October 19, 2008, equestrians across America participated in the annual National Rescue Ride. Each horseback riding event benefited its own choice of equine-related charities. The trail ride pictured here raised funds for Saddlebred Rescue, Inc.

Rescued by the Ride –

A Rhymed Detail of a Trip on the Trail

A never-ending sense of trust

Is strengthened by the whirling dust.

And when dear friends together roam,

We’re cheered before the long walk home.

We tread the trail, as it unfolds,

And autumn turns the greens to golds.

The lead horse surely sets the pace;

The journey will our ills erase.

Arriving at the barn again,

We raise a toast to where we’ve been.

Then, tempted by a banquet sweet,

We mark a perfect day complete.

  4. A trail ride in autumn, something indeed to be enjoyed and wished to never end. Makes me jealous.

  6. Your words produce the entire feeling that accompanies a trail ride: sight, smell, sound, touch and taste. Very nice!
